These sessions promote positive mental and physical health using theatre games, movement, clown games and mindfulness exercises. Guided in a friendly, no pressure environment by theatre practitioner Hester Welch, co-Artistic Director of Spilt Ink Theatre.

Who is this for?  
You might be an expert play-er in need of some inspiration (i.e. a performer), or perhaps your body is aching for some silliness after a long day at a desk. Or maybe you haven’t played since you were 6 and are now taking your first steps in your ‘serious person’ recovery journey... Any experience is welcome. Come as you are and let’s play.

What do I bring? 
The sessions involve movement and group games. Wear something you can move in and bring a water bottle. Take it at your own pace. Resting when needed is encouraged.

About Spilt Ink Theatre
Spilt Ink Theatre is a company formed by three female theatre-makers who met in Paris whilst training at Lecoq and Gaulier. They use play, physical theatre, puppetry and clown to create accessible theatre that inspires and moves a wide range of audiences; from young to old, where English may not be a first language and to those who might be new to participating in theatre. Their core intention is to make playful and visual work that is engaging and relevant, inspired by the voices of local people, and our own identities as artists.

Taking place in, on and around an old-school London Taxi, Pirate Taxi includes original live music, humour, a mechanically ingenious set, and extraordinary aerial performance.

Sometimes serious, but more often funny, Pirate Taxi tells the directors’ own tale of finding their way via Circus to rural Somerset – weaving in themes of journeys, companionship, and the annual migration of birds.

Audiences are invited to join the ride, as the Taxi embarks on yet another adventure!

About Muriel's Wedding

Socially awkward Muriel Heslop wants nothing more than to get married. Unfortunately, due to her oppressive politician father, Muriel has never even been on a date. Ostracized by her more socially adept friends, Muriel runs into fellow outcast Rhonda Epinstalk, and the two move from their small Australian town to the big city of Sydney, where Muriel changes her name and begins the arduous task of redesigning her life to match her fantasies reminding us of the importance of transformation and chosen families.

About Tom Marshmam

Tom Marshman (Annette Curtain) is a Bristol based queer artist, having worked in cabaret, theatre and live art for over 20 years, he was recently appointed the Strike a light - Let artist be artists post.

About Mariana Trench

In these challenging times, Trinity and Cambridge Junction have come together to offer a £3,000 commission to a D/deaf or Disabled Artist(s) to create work for an online audience.

We will commission one new piece of work and want the brief to be as open as possible, so you can respond in a way that best suits you as an artist. We welcome artists of any practice, working in any art-form, to apply.

 

We want to commission:

  • A brand-new online performance/exhibition that can remain available to experience for a set period of time – we want people to be able to experience your work safely from their homes

  • One artist who identifies as D/deaf or Disabled, or a collective of artists where at least 50% of the collective identify as D/deaf or Disabled

  • Work that will be completed and distributed online before the end of October 2020

 

We expect applications to include:

  • A consideration of audience access within the commission fee

  • Confirmation that artist access costs are covered by the commission fee or by Access to Work or similar

 

We will provide:

  • A commission fee of £3,000

  • Producing support: we don’t want anyone to be put off if they don’t have producing capacity at the moment

  • Marketing and digital content support: we want your work to reach far and wide

  • The platform for sharing your work: Trinity and Cambridge Junction’s social media platforms and those of our partners are readily available to platform your work

 

At Trinity we programme using a ‘Programming Forum’ which you can find out more about here. The final decision on who receives the commission will be made by a forum made up of local artists and community members from both Trinity and Cambridge Junction.

‘One Foot in the Dark’ is an exploration of our known and unknown experiences of identity, culture and change through text and movement.

It comprises a double bill of solo ‘The Skeleton is White’, exploring how the colour of our skin can affect our relationship to each other and to the environment and ‘Six Degrees from Home’, an inter-disciplinary duet by Divija Melally and Saili Katebe, exploring borders and connection through movement and poetry.

Both are honest explorations of two artists from the global majority understanding what it means to navigate through life, questions and unknowns.

With more than ten years of experience as a dance artist, Neus previously danced in companies such as Hofesh Shechter Company, National Dance Company Wales, Protein and Dance Works Rotterdam, amongst others. 

As a choreographer, her work has been commissioned worldwide, including performances at festivals such as World Stage Design and Ellas Crean, companies such as Frontier Danceland (Singapore) and several national CAT programmes, including the London Youth Circus.

How can they build an igloo if there isn’t any snow? They need it to snow. They want it to snow.

Igloo is a non-verbal, playful experience filled with warmth, sensation and gentle exploration, suitable for babes in arms and pre-schoolers aged 0-3 accompanied by their carers.

The Show is 30 minutes long, followed by a 30 minute stay and play, run by Travelling Light. Originally a Travelling Light and Bristol Old Vic co-production.

As part of each performance there will be a facilitated play session. The performance is non-verbal, but the play session contains some words. Audience members will also be given an Igloo picture book and other creative ideas to enable families to continue with creative play at home.

What makes an activist? What makes people take action and create artwork? What is or isn’t art or an artefact? After The Fire is a thought-provoking odyssey through the sounds and sights of Bristol’s protest history in recent years.

On the hour from 1pm until 5pm, we will have 15 minute immersive interventions - visceral performances by Bristol based artists symbolising 5 themes: PUNK, UPRISING, SPOKEN TRUTH, IDENTITY & REVOLUTION.
