Trinity Presents - Celebrating 50 Years of Music

This event is part of Trinity Presents, our in-house series that bring outstanding performers and exciting new voices to communities at the heart of the city.

This event is for swimmers, surfers, sea-lovers, artists, educators and anyone else who loves the ocean. Although they will be celebrating international conservation efforts, the event will primarily focus on research and projects within the UK, highlighting how individuals here can take action.

The first Ocean Advocate Summit in 2025 was a sell-out event, so we recommend booking your ticket early to avoid disappointment! The Ocean Advocate Summit is returning bigger and better, with a new line-up of speakers and exhibitors.

Powerful and provocative, Mandala's new play exposes the lies societies have been fed by organised religion and politics, exploring who controls the narrative and what truth got buried along the way.

Through their unique brand of theatricality, humour, innovative staging, compelling characters and powerful epic storytelling, Mandala tell the story of Eve....Accused, suppressed, abused, silenced, but now rising, waking up to her full power as creator, nurturer, wisdom-keeper - restoring the balance between Masculine and Feminine energy, to ultimately suggest new vision and hope.

About Mandala Theatre Company
Mandala Theatre Company is an ethnically diverse-led company based in East Oxford. They are committed to using theatre as a force for social change and to working with young people and artists from the global majority and disadvantaged backgrounds. This play has been developed with young people, student groups and women's groups in Oxford, Luton, Salford and Bristol, in line with Mandala's trademark dedication to co-creation with those with lived experience, and telling the stories that so often go untold.

Kick off with a warm-up before you prance ecstatically and unguided for 60 minutes. Bring your most flamboyant moves, or just finger-dance in a corner - all are welcome.

Keep the event alive by supporting with a fiver in cash or card at the donation station. You won’t be turned away if you're in a financial pickle, but please donate if you can.

Newcomers are welcome! It’s okay to feel nervous, especially if you come alone. Dancing freely around others is a courageous act. Yet we come together to overcome our fears. If it helps, a bunch of bobbling humans is meant to look hilarious and not #InstaCool. You’re welcome to stay for snacks and chatter at the end.

Please bring earplugs if you are sensitive to loud music.

Dress code: wear whatever you like but fancy dress is encouraged.

Expect the usual great tunes, great company and a chance to see all your friends or make lots of new ones. Some of our members come for a while – some stay the whole night.

Music will come from DJs (Will, David, A-J) who are here to get you on the dance floor. You can let one of the Misfits Team on the day if you have a special music request. There is plenty of space to sit back and watch if you prefer and the bar will be open all evening (18+, ID required for buying drinks).

There is some parking on site, you just need to pay at the car park machine or via the Ringo app for how many hours you stay. If the car park is full, you can also park on nearby street parking.

The Misfit’s Guide to a Good Night Out

Travel Safely:

• We all love dancing at Rhythm of The Night but it is also good to take a break when you need to.

• Keep yourself safe by not drinking more than you can manage.

Enjoy yourself and allow others to enjoy themselves too:

• We all have the right to have a good time. If you don’t feel comfortable because of someone else’s actions let the Misfits Team or Venue Staff know and we can help.

• Keep an eye out on other people you are with. If we all look out for each other, we can all have a good time.

• Respect each other's space and give each other room.

We’re reflecting on the energy and creativity shared at last week’s launch of Freedom 25: Poetic Placards & Billboards, Trinity’s contribution to the national Our Freedom: Then & Now programme led by Future Arts Centres. The project brings together 60 arts centres and libraries across the UK to mark 80 years since VE/VJ Day and explore what freedom means today.

Over the past four months, participants from across Bristol, including local residents, refugee and asylum-seeking communities, and Caribbean Elders, have taken part in creative writing sessions with Bristol City Poet, Sukina Noor, and Heritage Curator, Dr Edson Burton. These conversations and workshops uncovered personal reflections, memories and hopes, forming the foundation for a series of autumn printmaking sessions led by visual artist Sonja Burniston.

Their incredible work is on display in Trinity’s Graffiti Room November 2025 as part of a new exhibition of poetic placards and prints. Alongside this, a large-scale Billboard Art installation was unveiled last week in Old Market Community Garden, created in partnership with Build Hollywood and inspired directly by the words and ideas shared throughout the project.

Speaking after the celebration event, Jen, Trinity’s Arts Engagement Manager, said:

“Seeing participants find their voices reflected publicly was incredibly moving. This project has shown how creativity can build confidence, connection and a genuine sense of belonging.”

The launch brought together participants, artists, partners and supporters to mark the culmination of this collaborative journey and to celebrate Bristol’s rich tapestry of voices exploring what freedom means to our communities.

Artist Sonja reflected on her experience working with participants, saying:

"I think this project is really exciting and so important right now! It’s happening in art centres and libraries, places where people can come together to share and tell their stories. These gatherings help us feel connected and remind us that we’re not just shouting into the void or quietly holding onto our thoughts in a world that often seems a bit chaotic due to global politics."

Sonja continues:

"It’s comforting to realise there are others out there who share our beliefs and values. Without these spaces and moments to talk about what really matters, it can feel pretty lonely. I’ve found it really special to be with others who get it. We’re all allies in wanting freedom for each other, and it’s wonderful to advocate for that together!"

Part one is an interactive dance workshop experience where you will:

1. Learn excerpts from an original memorial dance from an African-diasporic global perspective and 
2. Participate in a 'dance reasoning circle': be taken on a journey to tell your own story, contribute to a new devised choreography made in the moment talking to now. 

Open to all ages and abilities. With music, and the option to take part in percussion and in an art workshop.

In the second part there will be a full performance of the memorial dance proceeded by the premiere of the new accompanying music video, followed by a roundtable discussion with members of the project team, reflecting on the project.

The event closes with a DJ set.

This event is part of the University of Bristol Being Human Festival 2025 Hub Programme.

Mafia Weekend CIC is back with the fifth edition of this interactive experience, which has sold out every year. The themes for this Story Gathering will revolve around local river restoration, human separation from the natural world, and local organic food growing.

The Story Gathering is an interactive workshop where participants can experience “switching it up” as characters or citizens within this story. Join and immerse yourself in this narrative, supported by professional storytellers, musicians, and artists who will guide the day.

To participate, bring yourself as you are with courage, playfulness, and a willingness to try something new.

Activities include:
-chilled, no-pressure group singing (can feel a bit awkward at the start, but ends feeling awesome)
-interactive stories from world-class storytellers
-live music
-choice between creative writing & printmaking workshops
-talks from people doing good things in Bristol
-a fun & accessible ceremony to celebrate nature & the start of autumn
-guided group discussion
-silly games
-accessible breathwork & stretching

Lunch:
Your ticket includes a hearty hot vegan lunch. The vegetables are sourced from local organic Bristol food producers (Sims Hill Shared Harvest), and the meal will be prepared by a professional chef. The meal will be gluten-, dairy-, and nut-free. Please email here. 

Attendance from the start is essential. Latecomers arriving after 15 minutes will not be admitted (it’s like going to the theatre). Please make evening plans from 5pm so that everyone starts and ends the workshop together.
