The nature of working as an independent dancer or dance-maker often entails being here and there and everywhere, fleeting between projects and places.
A group of Bristol-based dance artists will take it in turn to lead morning class, each drawing on their own experiences of dance and of other somatic and body-mind practices.

Whether through improvisation or the learning of set material these classes welcome each mover to explore and bring their attention to their own sense of being and moving. Come along to interrogate and deepen your dancing craft.

Level
Experienced movement practitioners.

Two day dance workshop with Ben McEwen

In the mornings we'll be looking at principles of floorwork, through the material of Flying Low - a technique initiated by David Zambrano that uses simple movement patterns and principles (such as spiralling and alternating between expansion and cohesion) to dance our whole selves in, out and along the floor with speed, efficiency... and pleasure!

Continuing the thread from the morning, afternoons will be group composition, influenced by David Zambrano's Passing Through structure. Starting with walking and running we'll build up a variety of improvisational techniques and skills to move and compose together (and apart!).

Suitable for experienced movers.

I highly recommend long trousers (within reason!) and covered shoulders.
