Sundara Karma announce their biggest headline show to date in September, including The Trinity Centre!

Support from:

Freak

The Night Café

Latest single ‘Loveblood’ was recently unveiled as Annie Mac’s ‘Hottest Record In The World’ on Radio 1. The track follows their ‘In New Music We Trust’ playlisted single ‘A Young Understanding’ and further demonstrates Sundara Karma’s extraordinary ability to build arena sized, widescreen rock songs.

Led by charismatic frontman Oscar Lulu, Sundara Karma are masters at crafting bright, panoramic indie rock whose bruised-heart lyrics deal with young romance and a yearning to escape small town mundanity.

Having spent 2015 firmly establishing themselves as ones-to-catch on the live circuit and festival tents, their captivatingly intense live shows have truly won the hearts of their crowd, building a dedicated cult teenage fan base. They have already completed a string of dates across Europe supporting Wolf Alice, embarked on their own sold out headline UK tour and joined Nothing But Thieves on their April tour. ‘Loveblood’ is sure to be the next step in what is shaping up to be an incredible year for the Reading four-piece, whose eagerly anticipated debut album will be released later in 2016.

Talking about ‘Loveblood’, frontman Oscar Lulu says: “The song is about fate, love and tragedy. A kind of Romeo and Juliet inspired thing. It’s also inspired by Oscar Wilde’s short story ‘Lord Arthur Savile’s Crime’. Mysteries of the unexplained is something that has a huge appeal for me.”

Jimmy Cauty’s ADP Riot Tour 2016

Jimmy Cauty's The Aftermath Dislocation Principle (ADP) comes to Bristol

We are very excited to announce that Jimmy Cauty’s critically-acclaimed The Aftermath Dislocation Principle (ADP), previously seen at Banksy's Dismaland last summer, will be coming to the Trinity Centre, Friday 29th April – Sunday 8th May.

The fine city of Bristol has never witnessed such devastating scenes of destruction and chaos. So it will come as great comfort to citizens to learn that it is on an incredibly small scale---1:87 to be precise---and safely contained within a 40ft shipping container, as part of a surreal model village experience visiting the city.

The Aftermath Dislocation Principle (ADP) is a post-riot landscape created in miniature by acclaimed artist Jimmy Cauty -- co-creator of chart-topping band The KLF and its subsequent, million pound-burning arts incarnation The K Foundation.

Following The ADP's critically-acclaimed appearance at Banksy's Dismaland last summer, the installation has taken to the road, re-housed in a specially converted shipping container, which will open its doors to visitors across the country, at the sites of historic riots.

The ADP Riot Tour's visit to Bristol, from 29th April, will see it take up residence at The Trinity Centre, opposite the Trinity Road Police Station, instrumental in The St Pauls Riot of 1980, which saw black and white youth stand up to police harassment.

Far from inciting another riot, the event's organisers hope the experience will be a peaceful and thought-provoking one, with the only real disturbance being the constant chatter of miniature police radios, dotted all over the exhibit.

Parquet Courts, also known as Parkay Quarts; American rock band from New York City

Parquet Courts

Recorded over the course of a year against a backdrop of personal instability, Parquet Courts’ new record, Human Performance, massively expands the idea of what a Parquet Courts record can be. They’ve been one of the most critically acclaimed bands of the last 5 years; this is the record that backs all those words up.

“Every day it starts, anxiety,” began the first song on 2014’s Content Nausea. Those were essentially the song’s only lyrics, but Human Performance picks up where that thought left off, picking apart the anxieties of modern life: “The unavoidable noise of NYC that can be maddening, the kind of the impossible struggle against clutter, whether it’s physical or mental or social,” says singer, guitarist and Human Performance producer/mixer Austin Brown.

There has always been the emotional side of Parquet Courts, which has always had an important balance with the more discussed cerebral side, but Savage sees Human Performance as a redistribution of weight in that balance. “I began to question my humanity, and if it was always as sincere as I thought, or if it was a performance,” says Savage. “I felt like a sort of malfunctioning apparatus,” he says. “Like a machine programmed to be human showing signs of defect.

The sonic diversity, time, and existential effort that went into its creation makes Human Performance Parquet Courts’ most ambitious record to date. It’s a work of incredible creative vision born of seemingly insurmountable adversity. It is also their most accessible record yet.

Trinity has joined forces with Lockjaws* for the Bristol Bath Art Weekender and we're seeking Ambassadors and stewards to help out.

Art Weekender – Bristol & Bath is a three-day celebration of the visual arts across the two cities taking place from Friday 30 October to Sunday 1 November. Now in its second year, the Art Weekender is produced by Situations in partnership with over 30 arts venues, artist-led groups and arts producers. The weekender brings together exhibitions, one-off special events, artists’ talks, family activities and trails, public artworks and performances by outstanding contemporary artists in multiple locations across the two cities.

Trinity has joined forces with Lockjaws* to host a 5 day exhibition in Fyfe Hall and The Graffiti Room including exhibition and publication launch alongside a number of artist performances and artist collective interventions.

Curious about art? Want to be part of something big? Art Weekender are seeking inspired and enthusiastic people to become Ambassadors. Help celebrate the arts in Bristol and Bath, while learning professional skills and making new friends.
