A key pillar of the Reggae Revival movement, Kabaka Pyramid carved his way into the Jamaican reggae scene with Rebel Music in 2011. His hip hop roots were evident in the lyrical style and hard-hitting beats, laying the foundation for an ever-ascending career highlighted by the Grammy winning album “The Kalling” produced by role model Damian “Jr Gong” Marley.

Kabaka is well known for delivering an electrifying and entertaining live performance.

Cooper has released more than 70 original tracks and remixes, and more than twenty accompanying video works, primarily on London label FIELDS and German label Traum Schallplatten. His remixes range from avant-garde composers Michael Nyman and Nils Frahm, to bands like Hot Chip and Au Revoir Simone, to techno acts such as Agoria, Sasha (Welsh DJ) and Guy Andrews.

His work carries an emotional resonance and sensory immersion, often focusing on humanity’s place in the world. He merges electronic music and visual art with scientific enquiry through installations, live performance, and immersive audio-visual experiences.

This time, easy life had to put their own ethos to the test, resulting in a heartfelt, melancholic, and uplifting record that will challenge people’s expectations, as the band scales euphoric new heights.

His new album ‘Norm’ will be released on February 10th 2023

]]> No publisher <object object at 0x7f6a2148a580> music club night 2022-12-09T14:50:00Z Event Cardinal Black - NEW DATE https://ldap2.3ca.org.uk/whats-on/2023/cardinal-black 4-piece Rock band from Wales Rewind to 2010 when the Welsh-born trio of Tom Hollister, Chris Buck and Adam Roberts, were riding a wave of hype. Hotly tipped by some of the biggest names in rock, most notably Steve Winwood, who invited the band to record at his Wincraft Studios. A triumphant live set at Sonisphere was followed by a flight across the Atlantic, to begin to work on their first record with veteran manager Alan Niven (Guns N’Roses). As is often the case, expectation rarely mirrors reality, which leaded the band to call it and return to the UK. In the decade that followed, the lifelong friends cut their own paths whilst remaining close.

It was just a matter of time then, before they were ready to make music together again; The writing and recording of new material began in 2020, under the name Cardinal Black, joined by bassist Sam Williams. They may have taken the scenic route but, they are finally back and have plenty of stories to tell. Their debut album January come close released on October 28th is the proof...

Their third album ‘The livelong day’ successfully blends alternative folk and psychedelia. It takes both the earthy and alien elements of their sound to create an immersive, otherworldly sonic landscape.

The two North-Eastern Mercury prize-nominated artists are from different musical worlds, but found common ground with an exploratory merging of voices and acoustic sounds.

The night will begin with comedy MC’d by Omari Douglas and sets from comedians Jasi and Troy Orchard. Omari hosts shows around Bristol that create more space for Black comedians.

Auction prizes:

A silent auction will take place throughout the night, with the opportunity for attendees to bid on the artwork or item of their choice. Highest price wins. Winners will be announced at 10.15pm

We are delighted to have the notorious Bristol BBQ Family with us. Unkle Mike and Chef Eli prepare food to lift the soul. They have a strong presence in the Bristol community, making traditional Caribbean dishes with East-African flavours. They will be selling food throughout the evening and donating all profits to Chris’ family.
