Having formed in early 2000’s out of Glastonbury and Winchester, The Moulettes have fast become renowned for their breathtaking live shows. It is clear that few bands have the creative range and work ethic of Moulettes, with a brave approach to production and arrangement Moulettes look for peculiar ways of blending acoustic and electric instruments. Lead singer and songwriter Hannah Miller creates an otherworldly framework in which fantastical characters move between the realms of nature, magic and science and out of that Preternatural was born - an eclectic 11-track opus for the Natural World, and the strange and beautiful creatures in it.

The Moulettes have always been an evolving phenomenon and each album has seen a significant leap into new unchartered territory, prompting comparisons as disparate as Roxy Music, Frank Zappa, Kate Bush, Bowie and Radiohead plus more.

“We identify with bands who present their own kind of eclecticism,” says Oliver Austin. “From Zappa, and Gentle Giant to current bands like Field Music, John Grant, Snarky Puppy, Laura Mvula, My Brightest Diamond, tUnE-yArDs and Tortoise; these were all references for the record.

Incurably ambitious, this is a band that has always put an adventurous approach to Art at the heart of their craft and have constantly been on the road with varying sized ensembles from a three-piece to a full chamber orchestra.

Bunty, a Brighton-based musician and visual artist will be taking to the stage in Bristol on Thursday 7 December. Part of the Beatabet collective, live Bunty uses her renegade multi-instrumentalism, voice, effects pedals and a mash of real and made-up languages. Her live show is like nothing else with each set bringing to life a huge amount of improvisation, meaning this performance will be unlike any other she has done before.

To continue the theme of the unexpected, in addition to Bunty, classically-trained violinist Mike Dennis will be supporting. His love of Run DMC, Beastie Boys and Gangstarr has led him to create a unique kind of string-heavy hip hop music he calls Violinica. Drawing inspiration from daily British life and the perils and profits of love - you will not see any other artist like this!

was a key part of the roots reggae resurgence in Jamaica in the late 1990s, and his rich, sincere baritone give his songs a strong, bedrock appeal. Born Dwight Marvin Duncan in Prospect Beach in St. Thomas on the east coast of Jamaica in 1973, Duncan was active in church choirs by the time he was nine, and as a teen he became a selector for the Black Star Line sound system under the name Junior Melody (Duncan also occasionally billed himself as Junior Buckley). Relocating to Kingston hoping to break into the Jamaican music scene there, Duncan met famed producers Steelie and Cleevie, who were impressed with his warm baritone singing voice, and quickly recorded him on "Grow Your Natty" at Studio 2000, giving him the name Bushman. A follow up single, "Call the Hearse," was a huge dancehall hit, leading to Bushman's debut album, Nyah Man Chant, in 1997. Still arguably his best work, Nyah's tightly constructed sequence made it a critical favourite. Bushman worked with producer King Jammy (Lloyd James) for his next two albums, Total Commitment (1999) and Higher Ground(2001), followed by Better Place in 2002 and My Meditation in 2003. Signs, incorporating some R&B and pop touches, was released in 2004. Throughout his career Bushman has remained committed to cultural and conscious roots material, adamantly resisting the slacker side of the contemporary Jamaican dancehall milieu, a commitment that has made him a more recognised artist in Europe and elsewhere than he is in his homeland.

Set Times:

A Blaze of Feather 9pm

Tender Central 8pm

A Blaze of Feather are pleased to announce details of their debut album release, ‘A Blaze of Feather, through bandmate Ben Howard’s new independent label, Hell Up Records. It is released on the 30th June 2017.

A Blaze of Feather will be swiftly followed by their first live shows, a mini tour of the South West of England, in preparation for a Summer of festival appearances. Tickets go on pre-sale from Thursday 1st June and on general sale from Friday 2nd June. Further details are listed below.

Earlier this Spring, an unknown name started cropping up prominently on the British Summer festival posters: “A Blaze of Feather”. Citadel, Latitude, Boardmasters, all had this curious name, front and centre of their posters. Unsurprisingly the internet churned went into overdrive.

British musician Ben Howard, not one for making too much noise on social media, started retweeting references to this mythical A Blaze of Feather, which, in turn, became a source of great consternation amongst his fans on both Twitter and Reddit. Is it Ben under a new guise? Is this the multi-platinum selling musician’s new band? Why has he broken an extended silence to draw attention to a random band name?

The truth is yes, and yet the truth is also no. A Blaze of Feather is the music of Ben’s long-standing guitarist and friend Mickey Smith, aided by the same, sprawling six-piece band as Ben, including ex Hiss Golden Messenger drummer, Kyle Keegan. That the music shares a similar atmosphere and sonic world should come as little surprise. It was produced by Mickey, Ben and fellow guitarist Nat Wason in a makeshift studio on the west coast of Cornwall, and mixed by Nicolas Vernhes (The War on Drugs/Daughter).

Support for this show will come from Tender Central, whose debut single Wake Me Up was released earlier this year and is the project of fellow band mate India Bourne who performs with both Ben Howard and A Blaze of Feather. The music merges a delicate ear for musical arrangement with notes of electronica that both recall and evolve the sounds of ethereal electronic fore bearers Massive Attack, Lamb, Zero 7, Roni Size and more recently London Grammar in its sonic Intent.

Favourited by BBC Radio 1's Phil Taggart and Apple Music's Beats1 Julie Adenug, the Devon born classically trained cellist has an album's worth of material in the bank and will provide the perfect opener for A Blaze of Feather.

In their latest, critically-acclaimed album ‘Navigator’, frontwoman Alynda Segarra explores her Bronx/Puerto Rican roots with typical smoky vocals and finely-tuned lyrics to deliver songs that “just flow – slinky, sad or elegant in their own ways.” (Guardian).

Performing at Bristol’s Trinity Centre, expect an irresistible blend of stories and sounds from a band that “reclaims folk’s protest roots and marries them to the sounds of the Caribbean” (Pitchfork).
