A dark and brooding interpretation of the masked VILLAIN's finest work

Abstract Orchestra return with their MF DOOM set, focusing on the work of DOOM and collaborations such as MF DOOM and Madlib (MADVILLAIN).

Making some of the most exciting music in hip hop, Abstract Orchestra blend jazz orchestration with hip hop beats and MCs. The 18 piece, all star, big band create music that is both heavy and beautiful, pushing the boundaries of live hip hop. Abstract Orchestra explore original samples used in hip hop joints, orchestrated across the ensemble, masterfully reinterpreting the music of hip hop greats, such as J Dilla and MADVILLAIN. The group have toured and recorded with the likes of MF DOOM, Slum Village, and Illa J and supported Yasiin Bey, Talib Kweli, and The Zulu Nation.

Taking influences from Quincy Jones, Lalo Schifrin, and David Shire, the arranger, Rob Mitchell sits somewhere between Madlib and Quincy Jones. With classic aspects of big band writing, a focus on improvisation, and mad respect for hip hop, this set is high-energy and high-octane head nods from start to finish.

Brand-new, earth-shattering DJ set from the Bristol duo

A marriage of aggressive dance music, quaking bass, and hypnotic electric noise

Giant Swan is the brainchild of Robin Stewart & Harry Wright; an acerbic marriage of energised, aggressive dance music, quaking bass, and hypnotic electronic noise. Steadily assembling an arsenal of heavy hitting EPs and their instant classic, self-titled, debut LP. In anticipation of this very rare DJ set, the band have this public service broadcast:

"When people think of a DJ set they perhaps think of the flawless anti-glowstick precision of a Jeff Mills all-nighter, or maybe a pre-now/post-then ironic DJ set from people who download most of their music from 'soundcloud2mp3.com'. Well, we’re pleased to announce that Giant Swan’s brand-new, earth-shattering DJ set will be somewhere in between the two. If you think discovering electronic music has wiped the slate clean of your indie rock tastes as a 13 year old, well think again and get ready to re-live the most traumatic years of your life through the medium of music. Don’t worry though, the rewards will come in the form of sick club bangers from mates, people we wanna be mates with and people who wanna be mates with us. For fans of: when the drunkest person at the afterparty has full reign over the Spotify playlist."

Re-Seeking Thrills Tour

Georgia has been on a long, dazzling journey since the release of her critically acclaimed debut album in 2015. Her first self-titled collection of percussive, punk-inflected pop songs was lauded by The Guardian, Vice, The FADER and others.

Her new album, Seeking Thrills, is a musically daring story of hedonism, self-discovery, and above all, the transcendental power of the dancefloor. Seeking Thrills fuses analogue club sounds with solid pop songwriting, and showcases the North West Londoner's lifelong love affair with the drums. As a session drummer, making her name playing and collaborating with Micachu, Kwes, and Kate Tempest, she used her technical knowledge to replicate set-ups from 80s house and techno.

Byron Wallen is ‘one of the most innovative, exciting and original trumpet players alive’ (Jazzwise Magazine). Widely recognised as a seminal figure in world jazz, he is constantly travelling the world recording, teaching and performing.

Byron was raised in a musical environment and started learning the piano at an early age. He went on to study trumpet with Jimmy Owens, Donald Byrd and Jon Faddis in New York. His early music career was forged while he was studying for a degree in Psychology, Philosophy and Maths at Sussex University. During this period he recorded for Loose Ends and Cleveland Watkiss, and played trumpet with the likes of Mervyn Africa, The Style Council, Charles Earland, Courtney Pine and Jean Toussaint.

By the late 90s his work was receiving world-wide attention and his fluent trumpet, firmly rooted in the jazz tradition, could be heard performing with a myriad of artists including David Murray, Andrew Hill, Butch Morris, Billy Higgins, Hugh Masekela, Manu Dibango, Eddie Henderson, Wynton Marsalis, George Benson, William Orbit, Toumani Diabate, Ronnie Laws and Chaka Khan. One of the most versatile and dynamic voices on the British jazz scene, he has also performed with rap outfits such as The Roots, Digable Planets and Us3.

He has collaborated and recorded with Talvin Singh on the Mercury prize award-winning album OK for Island Records (2000); Craig David on the title track Slicker Than Your Average (2002); and Courtney Pine on the albums Back in the Day (2000) and Devotion (2003).
