Mandala Theatre Company is an ethnically diverse-led company based in East Oxford. They are committed to using theatre as a force for social change and to working with young people and artists from the global majority and disadvantaged backgrounds. This play has been developed with young people, student groups and women's groups in Oxford, Luton, Salford and Bristol, in line with Mandala's trademark dedication to co-creation with those with lived experience, and telling the stories that so often go untold.

‘One Foot in the Dark’ is an exploration of our known and unknown experiences of identity, culture and change through text and movement.

It comprises a double bill of solo ‘The Skeleton is White’, exploring how the colour of our skin can affect our relationship to each other and to the environment and ‘Six Degrees from Home’, an inter-disciplinary duet by Divija Melally and Saili Katebe, exploring borders and connection through movement and poetry.

Both are honest explorations of two artists from the global majority understanding what it means to navigate through life, questions and unknowns.

One day, a baby clown accidentally bounces off a passing circus train and is left in the middle of nowhere, separated from family and friends.

A little reluctantly at first, the farmer takes the clown in. As time passes, they discover that by being with each other, they find something new in themselves.

Made with consultation from Deaf Access and Visual Language consultants, Flibbertigibbet Theatre has adapted this picture book by award-winning author and illustrator, Marla Frazee, into a new wordless play for all ages.

Playing without words, the show is accessible to a wide range of audiences. They worked with  a Visual Language consultant and Deaf Access Support consultant, to ensure that the physical language created for the storytelling is clear and accessible for all audiences, including those who are deaf or hard of hearing. Anyone who does not speak English can still enjoy the show as language is not an issue.

The story delicately explores themes of loneliness, friendship, and care, across the divisions of age and community.

Working with brilliant actors and creatives, the triple bill 30-minute pieces will bring some of best established and emerging talent from theatre to tell original and diverse stories that take us from displacement to maternity wards.

The EVERYWHERE triple bills are very much about instigating conversations and curiosity between artists and audiences.

Adventures in Black History is led by Emile Clark in collaboration with Tidal Tales Collective.

All proceeds this time will be donated to the Somerset Eel Recovery Project - a grassroots charity working to protect and bring European eels back to the Somerset Levels. Once plentiful across the Somerset Levels, this migratory fish is now registered as critically endangered throughout its range. Their last event raised just over £400 for Trees For Life and before that raised £1000 for Somerset Wildlands Trust.

If you've never been to a ceilidh before, don't worry. There will be a caller on hand to tell you all the steps. Fancy dress as your favourite native wildlife is non-compulsory but very much encouraged. There will be a prize for the best dressed. However, bear in mind that riotous ceilidh dancing means that you will want to keep layers and extra potentially-eye-gouging-apendages to a minimum. Trainers/ comfortable shoes are highly recommended.

Old Market is set to undergo a vibrant take-over this Autumn as the city-centre location becomes host to, Destination Old Market, a programme of public events showcasing the area's cultural and creative scene.

Taking place throughout October to November 2024 we have created a programme that will feature pop-up gigs and performances in secret locations in the area - shining a spotlight on the many artisans, makers and independent businesses based in the area.

Businesses and shops will transform into DIY venues and will host pop-up performances from some of Bristol's finest live music, experimental sonics sounds & DJs. Line up so far includes Bristol's t l k, Copper Sounds + Sarahsson, Josephine Gyasi and James Storm. Pop up venues so far include pubs, hairdressers and retail shops.

Audiences can delve deep into Old Market's rich contemporary history through a new theatrical promenade performance devised by writer and artist, Edson Burton, in collaboration with artist Tom Marshman. Taking place in locations throughout Old Market, the audiences will uncover the captivating lives and stories that have shaped Bristol's Old Market into one of the city’s most memorable streets.

Experience the magic of sand animation as Oksana creates breathtaking pictures in real time from sparkling grains of sand, all accompanied to beautiful musical compositions. With a simple wave of her hands, she transforms the sand into enchanting worlds conveying her soul and artistry

In the first act, you'll be mesmerized by a sand animation that brings to life the story of Oscar Wilde's The Star-Child, with audio narration in both Ukrainian and English.

Finally, in the second act, the sand animation will present a Prayer for Ukraine, which is the artist's interpretations of current events aimed to raise awareness about the war in Ukraine.

All funds raised at the event will go to support Ukraine.

The Unknown Soldier reveals the hidden histories of black British servicemen and women who fought for Britain during the First and Second World Wars.

Presented by Alison Ray Dance Company, the show explores the personal stories of the brave men and women of Black British heritage and the part they played in Britain’s successful war effort.

Told through a variety of dance styles including Lindy Hop, African, Caribbean, and contemporary dance, this emotive dance theatre show weaves together visuals and live music to bring the narrative to life, offering a compelling tribute to Black British War Veterans.

In a world where the past often threatens to fade into obscurity, The Unknown Soldier stands as a beacon of remembrance, as told through dance, ensuring that the legacy of Black British War Veterans lives on for generations to come.

Flamenco Express returns with another cargo of heart-wrenching flamenco – with ‘sizzling soloist’ La Joaquina, guitar virtuoso Chris Clavo, the massive vocal presence of Antonio El Pola, and tonight, another Flamenco Express Star returns in the shape of crowd-pulling pocket dynamo Titi Flores.

About Titi Flores
A furiously effervescent dancer of unique power, imagination and grace.
A gypsy from Arcos de la Frontera, he shared the stage with artists such as Camaron de la Isla, Paco Toronjo, Aurora Vargas, Chiquetete, Turronero and Chano Lobato from the age of 15. After relocating to Madrid he worked with La Tati, Rafael Amargo, Cristobal Reyes and Juan Andres Maya and has recently founded his own dance company Companaa Titi Flores.

About El Pola
Known for over twenty years as a formidably talented singer dedicated to the purest flamenco, Antonio El Pola has grown to fill the greatest stages, performing with many legends of the art, such as La Chana, Paco de Lucia, Juan El Camas, Concha Vargas, Antonio Moya and Juan Castor. A true custodian of the flamenco history.
