This year RISE is 10 years old and the second half of the show celebrates the achievements of the company and the young people that have been part of its journey. We have revived some of our favourite pieces from the last 10 years, and invited previous company members on their own journeys, some working as professional dancers or training professionally, to join with the 2018 company.

We are working to reschedule all upcoming events and will contact Trinity ticket holders once we have new dates in place.

All tickets will be valid for rescheduled dates however, if you would like to request a refund, please contact info@trinitybristol.org.uk with the event name, date and the email used to make the booking.

Garden Sessions

Working with some of the best artists and promoters in the city, our Garden Sessions bring you a series of socially distanced events in a way you've never experienced at Trinity before, in a new outdoor venue on our historic grounds.

We are very proud to welcome back the wonderful Brizzle Boyz, book your table now*

"The South West's premier queer punk drag king cabaret night and one of the largest and most successful king nights in the UK, Brizzle Boyz is an electrifying LGBTQIAAP+ variety performance night. A true melting pot of local and national talent, Brizzle Boyz brings together a carefully curated line up of some of the best and boldest drag performers in the country. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll leave wanting to wear a glittery moustache.

Joining us in the bunting clad Autumnal open airs of the Trinity Gardens will be:

The practically perfect Pocket Rocket!

The amazingly erudite Archibald Mystery, Bard of Queer History!

The masterful Manly Mannington!

+ more performers to be announced soon!

Plus performances from your hosts Oliver Assets and Roddy Jodphurs!

Safe Space Policy:
Brizzle Boyz is an LGBTQIAAP+ event and we aim to promote a welcoming space for all that attend. Performers may tackle challenging subject matter on subjects such as, but not limited to, lived experience with racism, mental health, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, and ableism. There will be a programme on the night to alert attendees to which acts contain potentially upsetting or controversial subject matter, or potential sensory issues. If you have any concerns on the night please find either Roddy, Oliver, the Brizzle Buddy or the person who checked your ticket and let us know so we can help you. The line up is subject to changes.

Accessibility:
If you would like a more comprehensive list of accessibility information, please have a look at the Trinity Centre's website: https://www.trinitybristol.org.uk/activities/renovation/accessibility
Seating is one household per table, 6 people per table.
Per/forming Pharmacy

Researcher/word hoarder Alex Wardrop and careful artist and Arts psychotherapist Georgina Huntley are per/forming pharmacy. Through mixing inscription potions we will ease, balance, disrupt, agitate, heal, hurt, cure and/or poison.

In our interactive arts installation we consider the emergency of the current historical moment through the collecting, categorising, collaging and sharing of words. Inscription positions will emerge to cure or poison the emergencies of this moment that you will share with us.

We will mix up a remedy – or a poison – for your nastiest ailments, existential angsts, calcified blockages of power, silly woes, serious worries, calm thoughts, political grief, beastly hurts, bad feelings or too obvious forgettings.

Our pharmacy is per/formed through our interactions with you. In sending us a word or short sentence of the emergency you want to be cured or poisoned, you become part of the formation of new meanings and maybe the de/re-formation of old ones.

Any healing emerging from our performance/art/pharmacy will be participatory and, sometimes, ambivalent.

For help with your emergency, please send us a word or sentence to: makinglearning@gmail.com

Alternatively come down to Trinity on 9th June between 14:00-17:00 and join in on the day.

We will mix up your remedy, or position, and put it in a bottle for collection at the Trinity Centre between 14:00 -17:00 on 9th June 2016.

About Uchenna Dance

The Company

Uchenna Dance is based in London, UK. It was formed in January 2009 under the vision and leadership of Vicki Igbokwe, shortly after she experienced a life-changing trip to New York during the summer of 2008. It was a Wednesday evening and Vicki had just finished taking a house dance class at Peridance Studios and had been told about a club called Sin Sin, that had a house night called Soulgasam. It hit her that this dance she was falling in love with, house dance, was much more than just a style of dance, it was a culture, a way of life. The DJ was spinning some tunes and the dancers were killing it…

The Uchenna dance style fuses Waacking, Vogue and House with traditional African and Contemporary, creating a signatory aesthetic that simply is, Uchenna.

Uchenna (pronounced OO-CHENNA) offers a unique and contemporary addition to the UK dance scene.

Since its inception, Uchenna Dance has grown from an informal explorative company to a tour de force within the dance sector.

The company’s overarching aim is to Empower, Entertain and Educate through dance in a diverse programme that includes the production of dance theatre production experiences, coaching, dance based empowerment workshops and teaching in further and higher education.
