Celebrate the festive period with a Caribbean/Black British themed Market

Closing this year’s commemoration of the Empire Windrush, Trinity presents a fun packed festive themed all-day party highlighting Caribbean and Black British culture.

Groundation The Workshop: 11am - 12.30pm

‘Our knowledge is contained within our social, ritual and religious dance rites.’

Join IRIE! dance theatre’s Assistant Artistic Director Ofelia Balogun and master drummer Steve aka Blaggy Balgrove in the discovery of a movement language that relays the journey of African and Caribbean history. Spaces are limited so please register your interest here.

Free Festus Market 1pm - 5pm

Looking for that special festive gift? From jewellery, clothing, to home- made cosmetics, stall holders will be on hand offering a range of gift ideas. Alternatively take part in one of our presents making activities – enjoy family activities like making colourful lanterns with multi-disciplinary artist & producer Ruth Ramsay or nice up your festive look with a free badge making workshop.

Want an alternative to the Christmas Pud – then find out how to prepare a Black Christmas cake with a live demonstration from Eat Day Eat Night at 3pm.

3.30pm Poetry and Open Mic

Enjoy some live spoken word from Zakiya McKenzie, writer, PhD candidate and former Bristol Black and Green ambassador who has graced the BBC airwaves on numerous occasions sharing her work. Also come along to our open mic! Open Mic Sign Up here.

4.45pm Duppy Hunter Listening Room

If you missed the Duppy Hunter smart phone adventure written by Edson Burton based on local stories, then come along and listen to the adventure in our dedicated listening room in Fyfe Hall.

5pm Inna Wi Carnival

Reflections of a Generation - A St Pauls Carnival production film screening which joins a conversation between local elders from the founding generation who recollect their memories and all that St Pauls Carnival means and entails.

We end the day with a Festus Party hosted by DJ Bandyt, an evening of party games, foolery, and leg-shaking featuring activities such as Name that Chune, Pass the Rascal, and Shabbaroke. Who’s ready to Candy Dance and do the Electric Slide? This event is ticketed. More info.
