Archival Sounds: Scaler
Archival Sounds is a new series that invites audiences to slow down, listen deeply, and uncover the political and cultural stories behind music. Each gathering pairs guest artists with a theme, using vinyl records as a way into memory, meaning, and conversation.
Community & Collaboration: Endlessly
One of Bristol’s most vital contemporary bands, SCALER celebrate the release of their new album Endlessly with a special ‘In Conversation’ event. This will include an album playback on the Firmly Rooted Soundsystem, a track-by-track discussion, and a Q&A hosted by Alastair Shuttleworth (BBC, Guardian, Pitchfork) all based around the importance of community and collaboration.
Community has always been the secret to SCALER’s electrifying, unclassifiable sound. The techno-rock fusions on their acclaimed 2022 debut album Void, which propelled them to international touring, festival shutdowns and a collaboration with Daniel Avery, were shaped by years in Bristol’s electronic and avant-garde scene. Endlessly expands the project’s scope with a cast of collaborators from the city and beyond, resulting in a sprawling, technicolour, triumphant record with flashes of trip-hop, DnB, drill, metal and more. This event is a chance to hear about the collaborations and experiments that went into this album, reflect on the importance of community, and enjoy it all through a local soundsystem.
The experience is powered by the warmth and clarity of the Firmly Rooted Soundsystem, creating space to hear each track in full and reflect on what the music stirs up, personally and collectively.
Vinyl, stories, and conversation: a new series where music meets meaning.
