Lesley Woods led the band as frontperson, lead singer, songwriter and guitarist. Lesley was once described as “”one of the most striking women in British rock”.
Their first album 'Playing With A Different Sex' is a post-punk classic and focusses on gender and other politics. A critic from The Guardian praised it for its “viciously well-observed lyrics on contemporary life, love and the role of women “.
The band is re-forming beginning 2026 when they commence a UK tour with Lesley Woods and new members. The 2 women/2 men balance remains .
Au Pairs blend political lyrics with a tough funk-dance-rock idiom which is as relevant today as it ever was.

]]>The entertainment is included and is different every time - in the past Curious Bazar have put on everything from face painting to henna tattoos; line dancing lessons to belly dancing displays; magicians to reptile shows!
At this Curious Bazaar expect:
Live music - it could be acoustic beats or a full on band.
Prize draw - free ticket included with your entry fee.
Interactive workshops – this could be jewellery making, create a piece of art or pottery or other exciting activities.
Every market supports a local charity with a % of the door money donated and a free promotional space for the charity.
This is a magical day out where curious minds and creative souls come together.

]]>Makaani means 'my place' in Arabic. Or, ‘I belong here’. Makaani Arts are inviting performers and practitioners with shared regional heritage to celebrate their art. Bridging cultures in a day of family-friendly community joy.
Expect dance workshops, live music, film, food and DJs. In collaboration with Chalguh Chengi, Vilk Collective and the Diverse Artists Network. Suitable for all ages.
FEATURING
Chalguh Chengi, meaning the spirit of live music and dance in Turkish, is a collective of artists who celebrate the deep-rooted folk music and dance of Anatolia and the Mediterranean. Showcasing the inherent diversity and fluidity of the region, this group brings live performance and fun, interactive family workshops.
Vilk Collective is a musical collaboration between Roxana Vilk and Peter Vilk, whose work is rooted in migration, memory and collective voice. With heritage spanning Iran, the former Czechoslovakia, and the UK, their music weaves Persian folk, jazz, dub and funk into a unique global sound.

]]>Jonathon Porritt is a veteran climate campaigner, advisor and writer, and has consistently highlighted the environmental crisis and its threat to social and ecological justice - over 50 years of constantly looking for solutions.
His newly published, eleventh book, 'Love, Anger & Betrayal', visits the latest generation of climate activists and documents the experiences of 26 insightful young people - his co-authors - who joined Just Stop Oil's Nonviolent Civil Resistance. The book reveals their passion for a just and sustainable transition away from our global economic and cultural dependence on fossil fuels. But who, with the political power, is listening?

Formed in the 1960s and famed for classics like 54-46 Was My Number, Monkey Man and Pressure Drop, the Maytals remain one of reggae’s most iconic groups. Now led by Toots’ daughter Leba, expect a powerful celebration of timeless hits and living legacy.

Expect a full meeting of minds and sounds as the complete SYSTEM stack rolls in, dialed up and ready to shake the foundations. This is more than just a dance, it’s a gathering of heads, a celebration of underground energy, and a space where the music speaks loud and clear.

Our annual free music and arts festival brings together a fantastic mix of local artists, bands, and performers, creating a vibrant day filled with live music, creativity, and community spirit.
As always, Garden Party is family-friendly, with workshops and activities running throughout the day, so everyone can get involved.
