alt-J will release their incredible new single ‘Tessellate’ on 16 July 2012 through Infectious Music. The track is lifted from their stunning debut album ‘An Awesome Wave’, which crash landed into the Top 20 earlier this month whilst peaking at #3 on iTunes, making it one of the biggest debuts of the year so far.

Tessellate’, a slow-burning, ethereal song about getting over a girl and getting into triangles, has been a long-term favourite amongst fans. The song marked a significant change in style for the band, Joe Newman (guitarist/vocalist) says: “‘Tessellate’ is about the lingering of an old flame and the physical intimacy shared with that particular individual. This song definitely marked a new sound for us, and was quite a breakthrough.

'An Awesome Wave' was released on May 28th through Infectious Music to a plethora of amazing reactions that saw it touted as the “hottest debut album” by NME, hailed as “exhilarating and emotive” by Q magazine and chosen as Zane Lowe’s record of the week on his Radio 1 show.

alt-j have also just announced a 9-date headline UK tour for Autumn of this year, seeing them play their biggest headline show to date at the Electric Ballroom in London on 5 November. Before then the band will head into a busy summer of UK and international festival performances including Latitude, Green Man, Bestival, Fuji Rocks and Pukkelpop. The last few months have seen alt-J tour with Wild Beasts and Ghostpoet, two sold-out headline shows at Covent Garden's Africa Centre, as well as a show at The Great Escape that had those locked out queuing down the street.
