Join Bristol based live artist Tom Marshman on 21st of November in a Tea Party with a difference. Since.... Tom has been unearthing the wealth of hidden LGBT heritage and history. But now he would like to invite you to a tea party where you can share reminiscences on 'gay life in the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s?’ where you can recall those songs that send you back, to remember that “film that you hold close to your queer chest”. Tom will share his own stories and poems. He will call upon your senses to spark the conversation. Most of all, it will be an afternoon to remember, there’s a heritage behind us, and a lot of it is worth shedding light on for all to appreciate.
The tea party is a first step of an ongoing process, which will culminate in a performance as part of LGBT History Month in 2013 in locations that are key to LGBT history (pubs, markets, cafes and streets). The performance will incorporate stories of local people and celebrate local LGBT heritage. Tom is working in partnership with Bridges Project based at Trinity.
“One of the most exciting things about Marshman's work is his ability to pick a seemingly small subject and peel back the layers to expose something unexpectedly profound.” – Big Issue
“Unapologetically sentimental, and loveable for it.” - Tim Atack, Venue Magazine
The LGBT Tea Party will take place at the Trinity Centre on Wednesday 21st November 2012, 2pm until 4pm.
