Big Bang Bristol
Big Bang Bristol is a two day Science Technology Engineering and Maths fair taking place at the Trinity Centre, Bristol on Thursday 6th and Friday 7th July 2017.
Designed to fire your students’ passion for all things STEM, our aim is to encourage students from all backgrounds to continue their interest in the STEM subjects and propel them into further study and a successful career in STEM.
The fair is split into two zones with demonstrations and hands-on activities from the cutting edge of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths.
The Enterprise Zone will host a diverse range of companies from Bristol and surrounding areas, as well as universities. They will talk to the students about how STEM subjects are used in their company, and will be able to give practical advice on routes into STEM careers.
The Research Zone will host PhD students and researchers from the Universities of Bristol, Bath, and UWE. Your students will be able to learn about the world-class research in our region, find out about life as a postgraduate and how best to go about becoming a professor! Each researcher will run an interactive stand with activities including making placenta models and looking at fluorescent cancer cells under microscopes.
We therefore extend an invitation to your school to bring 1 full KS3 class (up to 30 students) to any of the school’s sessions taking place on the following dates and time:
Schools Session 1: Thursday 6th July 10:00-12:30
Schools Session 2: Friday 7th July 09:30-12:00
Schools Session 3: Friday 7th July 13:00-15:30
In addition to the school's sessions there will be a Public Session open to all on Thursday 6th July 15:00-19:00. If you are unable to bring a class to a schools session we encourage you to let your students know about this opportunity to attend with their families.
