Trinity has been working with Attitude is Everything to implement their grassroots venue charter

Trinity is proud to announce that we have achieved Bronze status in line with Attitude is Everything's Venue and Festival Charter of Best Practice.

Attitude is Everything improves Deaf and disabled people’s access to live music by working in partnership with audiences, artists and the music industry. The ethos of the Charter is that Deaf and disabled people should be as independent as they want to be at live music events.

Attitude is Everything provided a toolkit detailing criteria for changes to the built environment, organisational policies and processes to help Trinity become more accessible. A specially designed action plan will allow us to progress through the stages, starting with Bronze and making our way to our goal of achieving Silver Award by the end of 2018. Reaching Bronze is recognition of our current offer:

- personal assistant ticket for gigs at no additional cost

- accessible parking spaces and box office

- viewing platform with good sightlines to the stage

As part of our commitment to access Trinity recently secured £5,000 funding from the Hedley Foundation and Bruce Wake Charitable Trust to pay for a mobile accessible lift to enable wheelchair users to access our Main Stage. The new lift can be available for any event. Please get in touch if you would like more information.

Alt J (2012)

Indie pop makers Alt-J came to perform live to a sell-out crowd the day after they won the Mercury Prize for what was to be one of their last intimate gigs.

Ezra Collective (2019)

London jazz collective Ezra Collective fuse Afrobeat, Hip-Hop and Soul to create a distinct sound. Known for “pioneering the new-wave of UK jazz music” (Boilerroom) their sell-out gig was yet another sell-out in 2019.

Freddie Gibbs (2019)

American rapper Freddie Gibbs is known for his technical proficiency and provocative lyrics as well has two collaborations with critically acclaimed Madlib.

One of the most popular rappers to come out of the UK in recent years, Loyle Carner played here following the release of his second album ‘Not Waving, But Drowning’.

Mick Jenkins (2019)

American rapper Mick Jenkins had released two far reaching albums, The Healing Component (2016) and Pieces of a Man (2018) prior to playing to a very ecstatic hip-hop loving audience.

Kokoroko (2020)

London-based eight-piece musical group Kokoroko play a fusion of Jazz and Afrobeat and came to us just before Lockdown restrictions in Mar 2020. Despite this, they are making waves in the UK Nu-Jazz scene.

Joy Crookes (2021)

An essential new voice in the burgeoning UK Neo-Soul scene, Joy Crookes played an incredible sold-out show in November last year.

The crowd jumped to the performance of I Do This All The Time and we think this will be a gig that forges itself in many memories. We are sure this will be one of her last gigs playing to smaller crowds.

The Mountain Goats + The Weather Station

Indie rock band hailing from Claremont, California, U.S

The Mountain Goats

+ The Weather Station

The Mountain Goats formed in 1991. Led by singer, songwriter and the man regarded as the best lyricist in American rock John Darnielle, they have released 15 studio albums since their debut effort in 1994.

John Darnielle was born on March 16th, 1967 in Bloomington, Indiana. At the age of two he lost his birth father, leading him and his mother to relocate to Central California where he grew up with a physically and emotionally abusive step-father. To cope with it he retreated into music and writing in a big way, but found that once high school was over, he couldn’t bring himself to stay in his hometown any longer. He found a job as a psychiatric nurse at the Metropolitan State Hospital in Norwalk, California and began writing songs on the guitar when he wasn’t working. He started performing live around 1990, and made a valuable friend in the form of Dennis Callaci.

Callaci was the owner of Shrimper Records, and after Darnielle gave him a boombox recorded demo tape of some of his early songs, Callaci released it as Darnielle’s first album “Taboo IV: The Homecoming”. Unwilling to perform under his own name, Darnielle took the moniker The Mountain Goats from the Screamin’ Jay Hawkins song “Yellow Coat” and began to tour with only himself on guitar and his friend Rachel Ware on the bass guitar. In 1991, Darnielle started attending the Pitzeer College in Claremont to study for an English degree, and it was during this time that he started properly focusing on songwriting, becoming renowned for his massively prolific output of songs.

Between 1991 and 1995 he released a large number of cassette’s and seven inch vinyl’s and built up a devoted following because of it. However, once he left college he decided to take his band more seriously and make a go of starting an actual career in music. His debut album proper, “Zopilote Machine”, had been released in 1994, and he spent the rest of the 1990’s building his following into a proper, nationwide fan-base. While the group have never been commercially succesful, they remain one of the most critically acclaimed and respected acts in American indie rock. Darnielle remains as prolific as ever, and has grown into a truly captivating live act to boot. The Mountain Goats are a band to see as soon as possible, and they come highly recommended.

Sundara Karma announce their biggest headline show to date in September, including The Trinity Centre!

Latest single ‘Loveblood’ was recently unveiled as Annie Mac’s ‘Hottest Record In The World’ on Radio 1. The track follows their ‘In New Music We Trust’ playlisted single ‘A Young Understanding’ and further demonstrates Sundara Karma’s extraordinary ability to build arena sized, widescreen rock songs.

Led by charismatic frontman Oscar Lulu, Sundara Karma are masters at crafting bright, panoramic indie rock whose bruised-heart lyrics deal with young romance and a yearning to escape small town mundanity.

Having spent 2015 firmly establishing themselves as ones-to-catch on the live circuit and festival tents, their captivatingly intense live shows have truly won the hearts of their crowd, building a dedicated cult teenage fan base. They have already completed a string of dates across Europe supporting Wolf Alice, embarked on their own sold out headline UK tour and joined Nothing But Thieves on their April tour. ‘Loveblood’ is sure to be the next step in what is shaping up to be an incredible year for the Reading four-piece, whose eagerly anticipated debut album will be released later in 2016.

Talking about ‘Loveblood’, frontman Oscar Lulu says: “The song is about fate, love and tragedy. A kind of Romeo and Juliet inspired thing. It’s also inspired by Oscar Wilde’s short story ‘Lord Arthur Savile’s Crime’. Mysteries of the unexplained is something that has a huge appeal for me.”
